Beginners guide

So, you have taken your first few kiteboarding lessons and you are hooked!  Now, all you need is your own equipment, but are not sure what to buy.  Choosing the right equipment for the right conditions can be confusing when you are new to the sport of kiteboarding.

The size of the kite that you choose depends on wind speed and body weight.  Generally, big kites (i.e., 12 to 15 meters) are more suitable for light wind conditions (12 to 18 knots).  Small kites (i.e., 5 to 8 meters) are more suitable for strong wind conditions (25 to 35 knots).  Use the chart below to determine the best kite for you given the wind conditions most prevalent where you will be kiting most.  We know kites are expensive, so if you are only looking to purchase just one, contact us and we will help you decide on the most appropriate kite and size for your skill level and kiteboarding locale.

Finally, quality is key for your safety and enjoyment!  Stick to well-known brands.  Not only will your equipment last longer, but you will have a selection of the most cutting edge technologies being introduced to the sport.
